Yesterday was unfourtanely my last weeek in Scoil Na Mainistreach Primary School, when I entered the school it hit me that it was the last wednesday I would be walking in the school doors for work experience,I loved the past 10 weeks, they flew by! Ilove working with people and being in the primary school was perfect for this!
I arrived in work experience at 08:55 and went straight into work. From 09:00 to 09:30 Aisling and I went to run the school shop for a while. Here some pupils wanted to buy some pencils, etc. was we gave it to them and took the money off them for the shop.
I then went back to the class I was in last week and helped in the library and then went back to their class where I helped with the art, they were making christmas trees so i helped them stick the paper on their tree and cut out stars for some boys who wanted it for the top of their Christmas tree.I also observed the work they were doing in Irish.
After lunch I did more photocoying for teachers and it was then time to leave :(
I was sad leaving as i loved working with the pupils, they were so nice and i got on well with alot of them,I said my thank you's to the staff and then it was time to leave after 10 great weeks!
I went into my work experience placement thinking,I would love to be a primary school teacher some day and now I am sure it is something I would love for my future career,I loved working with the pupils and staff they were all so friendly and welcoming.I will miss working in the primary school!I learnt alot from my experience and now have a better insight into what exactly is involved when you are a primary teacher. I am so grateful I had the oppurtunity to do my work experience in a primary school.
Wednesday was my second last week in the primary school.I left for work experience at 08:45 and arrived at 09:00.
The first job i did today was helping the senior infant boys with their 'word box '.They read out each of their words and my job was to help them if they got stuck on a word and wrote down any word they didnt get for the teacher.
I then spent a few hours helping in 1st class.I firstly went to the library and helped them reading their book, after this i went back to their class and observed the lessons they had. They did Irish and Maths so i helped the pupils if they needed help.I also took down some posters from their wall and put up more. The teacher showed us how the interactive white board worked and spoke to us about the job as a primary school teacher job in general. It was very useful to hear about the job from a teacher's perspective.
After lunch i did some photocopying and laminating for teachers.
This week I started off again my doing my weekly routine and finding any photocopying, laminating or filing teachers had and I did that for half an hour.
I then went down to the school library where I helped a second class group with their reading. Each student picked a book from the school library that they wanted to read.My job was to go to each boy and they read a page of the book they had selected to me,I helped them if they were stuck with a word and we then decided if they book was too easy/hard and if so we selected a new book.
After working in the school library,I once again helped a class with art. This week the Junior Infant class were cutting for art so I had to make sure they were using the scissors correctly and carefully.I also helped them witht their colouring if they needed it!
After art,I had lunch and then filed away school work and finished my day off by cutting out work for a teacher!

This week for work experience, once again,I met Aisling and when the bell rang,we started off our day of work experience! As usual,i started off with any photocopying and laminating teachers had which kept me busy up to little break.
After break I went to a class to help them with their paintings.I distributed the paint, paintbrushes and paper and made sure the boys didnt make too much of a mess with the paint!I collected the finished painting and cleaned up after!
I then had my lunch and did some more filing for teachers.I finished off the day with some photcopying annd lamintating!

This week,I did not attend my work experience in the primary school as I was in work experience in a guarda station for the week!
I had a brillant week and you can read all about it on my normal ty blog where you will see what I got up to for the week!
This week I arrived at the school, waited for the school bell to ring and then went straight into work!
Once again,I counted out the school letters and envelopes in bundles for each class making sure the right amount for each class was in a bundle and then distributed them into each class.I did some photocopying and laminating and then it was break time.
After break,Aisling and I went to a Junior Infant classroom to help them with their art, here I gave out the resources they needed for the art, helped any boy if he was stuck and after the art I cleaned up and washed the paintbrushes. We stayed in the classroom until lunch time and then went to have lunch.
After lunch we did jobs teachers had for us,including filing away students work, laminating and printing!
